Saratoga Rowing Association New Center

The Saratoga Rowing Association has been expanded in order to allow the city to bring in more racing athletes to the city. There has been added, a new center for the regatta and training. The cost is estimated to be one million. The center will have elite athletes as crew members who would train the high school rowers who enroll in the center, about two hundred or more.

The new building is about 5000 square feet in dimensions and is scheduled for inauguration shortly. There would be more room for storage and display of equipments as well as adults and students to use the facility for enhancing their rowing skills. (more…)

March Madness at San Diego National Offshore

San Diego’s great conditions yielded a whole day of racing for over hundred teams contending in twelve classes on the 2nd day of Helly Hansen National Offshore One Design Regatta, the biggest national sailboating circuit in United States. Several races for the 1 design boats carried on as a face-off for the top position in the series championship in British Virgin Islands comes.

Today, the fight went on at the top of the J/70 fleet. This time, after 4 races, this is Jeff Janov’s Minor Threat slipping into the lead over Midlife Crisis of Bruce Golison. McLean told that Minor Threat’s Doug McLean told that they obviously had a magnificent day with a 2-1-1. He added that it was close racing all through day. (more…)

SCYA, the place where women learn

The Southern California Yachting Association would hold its twenty-seventh Annual Women’s Sailing Convention on Saturday, 6th February, 2016 at Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club in Corona del Mar, California.

The ladies-only, daylong series of shore-and-boat-based workshops offer starters to experts welcoming surroundings to learn more regarding all topics sailing. Boat Owners Association of The United States has been the primary sponsor of the event since its introduction.
Attendees select combo workshops in regions that best fits their ability and interest, and top women sailors from all across the Southern California, many of whom are USCG Licensed Captains, present thirty topics.
Workshops include: Welcome Aboard (for beginners), Going Up the Mast, Diesels, Introduction to Racing, Tactics, Overboard Procedures, Docking, Suddenly Singlehanded Interactive, Sail Trim, Weather, Basic Navigation, DIY Canvas Projects, Maintenance Mania, How to Heave a Line, Hassel-Free Heads, Spinnaker Rigging, Nighttime Sailing & Navigation, Offshore Cruising, as well as Introduction to Sailing. The Race Starts workshop will be hosted in Harbor 20’s thanks to help of the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club.

Transat set to come to New York

The oldest and very first single-handed trans-ocean race The Transat has showcased that this would be going towards New York City and would end at the new ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina which would be an official host venue partner to the race along with Plymouth, United Kingdom. It is located in the heart of Brooklyn Bridge Park, just opposite Manhattan.

It is the brand new marina to be built in the New York City and is presently under constructon with a great opening set for 2016 Spring to be marked by this exciting and iconic race.
